TEXT MESSAGES
Thank you for updating your mobile numbers with us. It has been really helpful with the snow situation.
We will also try to put information on the web site.
Please can we say that School will always be open unless there is a real emergency? We will text you if the School is to be closed.
Thank you for being patient.
SKELLIG
The children going to the theatre on Monday will need a drink (not cans and not fizzy please)! They do not need any extra money. We will be travelling there by tube.
ATTENDANCE
Our Educational Welfare Officer is constantly checking the children’s attendance and punctuality. It is really important that you let us know if your child is ill. Many of you will know there is a real blitz going on in all Islington schools as Islington attendance figures are generally low.
If your child is constantly suffering little snuffles, sore throats etc and you any health worries, then we do have a Health Project Coordinator linked to our school. She is called Lucretia Baptiste and she is very happy to meet with anyone who has concerns so please let either myself or the office know if you would like her support.
PARENT GOVENOR ELECTIONS
We have two vacancies on our Governing Body for parents. If you are interested in becoming a Parent Governor then you can either put yourself forward or another parent can put your name forward.
A Governor is described as a ‘critical friend’ so it doesn’t mean that you are representing other parents although, of course, you can put other people’s views, as well as your own, on various issues to the Governing Body. There are courses that you can go on to find out more about it or you can come and talk to me.
If more than two people apply then we will send a voting letter out.
Governors meet once a term for the full Governing Body Meeting and usually sit on one small committee, which meets once a term. Meetings are usually held on Tuesdays at 5 o’clock and last approximately 1½ hours.
We do value your interest, so please respond to this if you would like to be involved.
FAMILY KITCHEN PROGRAMME
We are about to join this fun looking programme, which involves parents and their children coming in after school to do cooking. They like to have about 6 families involved and it is all funded so there is no cost.
The Programme aims to:
- Prepare, cook and eat healthy meals together
- Understand how a balanced diet contributes to health and wellbeing
- Gain the confidence and skills to cook healthy meals
- Gain more favourable attitudes to healthy eating than at the beginning of the project
- Be able to choose and buy healthy food
We think that Ms Mendoza will probably be running it. If you are at all interested, please fill in the slip.
If there are too many families we will have to pull names out of a hat!
Yours faithfully
CHRISTINA MILES
HEADTEACHER
I am interested in my family joining your Family Kitchen Programme.
