10 October 2011
Dear Parents & Governors
We have had a late phone call from the Council saying that they need to hold a
By-Election here on THURSDAY 10 NOVEMBER.
This means that the school will be closed on that day – many apologies.
Parents of Reception Children
Please could you come in to school at 9.15am on Wednesday 19 October for an Information meeting about your child’s learning? It will be in the bottom hall.

It was a difficult year with 11 children arriving atLaycockSchoolduring Years 5 and 6 and several children who had challenging learning problems. We were pleased that they all achieved their own personal best.
This year many schools sent the English scripts back to be re-marked because many heads were concerned about the levels. We did this as well because we were not satisfied that the levels matched children’s work in school. This coming year English will be marked by teachers.
Reminders:
Next week Year 5 will be working with the Young Shakespeare Company on ‘The Tempest’ on Thursday and Friday there will be workshops to celebrate Black History Month.
The younger children will have stories, song and rhyme. The Year 3 children upwards will be taking part in drumming workshops.
Playcentre
Please make sure you have paid all your money owed to Playcentre. It is the cheapest in Islington and we don’t want to have to put the costs up!
Please remember that if your child is staying to an After School Club this means they are obliged to pay the £3 Playcentre cost.
Children attending the ‘Hub’ have been invited to perform at the Royal Albert Hall on 7 November at 7.00pm in the evening. We will be writing to those parents with more details next week. There will also be a rehearsal on Wednesday 19 October at the Union Chapel – 1.30 – 3.30 (we will take them there).
REMINDER
INSET DAY (no school on Friday 21 October). This is the beginning of Half Term
Children back to school on Monday 31 October, 9.00am.
Yours faithfully
